Do away with Bottled Water and go to tap water!

Lately, there’s been major issue going on here locally where I live, and probably it goes on in a lot of other areas as well. Especially areas where drought and/or shortages are apparent.  Bottled water plants.  Apparently, regulatory agencies are issuing permits to allow withdrawal of water from the states water sources in the hundreds of thousands of gallons in a yearly basis.

The whole ironic thing about this, is that these same regulatory agencies have watering restrictions set in place for the citizens to water on only certain days of the week. The purpose of watering restrictions is to help save water, and of course, if we do not adhere to these regulations, citations are issued to homeowners if they are watering when they should not be watering.  But when these environmental regulatory agencies allow businesses go up and allow them to withdraw massive volumes of water, there is something indeed wrong going on here.  By allowing this, this will indeed not help our water shortages with both residence and farmers who need the same water to irrigate their crops.

Bottled water seem to give this perception that it’s more healthier, more pure, more better in quality than regular tap water.  Some of your tap waters, especially the ones if you’re living out in a rural area on a well system, are good for you, apparently there’s something lacking in bottled water (depending on the bottled water type itself), that tap water seems to have, extra minerals, you’re tapping straight into a natural source of water itself, and it contains minerals that are good for the body. Fluoride, derived from fluorine which is the 13th most common element in the earth’s crust, is also in some tap waters (good for teeth, right?) Good for protection against cavities.

Also, the use of plastics in the production of bottled waters can lead to wasting plastic, due to the amount of non-environmentally conscious consumers.  Also, the amount of water used in the purification process is 2 gallons to produce 1 gallon of the final product.

You also have to take in the account the amount of oil that is used in the transportation and manufacturing of bottled water in general. In a sense, we could even do without bottled water if you think about it.

Most people don’t like the taste of tap water, however there are ways to adapt and overcome the unsuitable taste.  You can use a Filter Pitcher or a Faucet Filter. Also, in your travels or while in the outdoors, you can use a water bottle with a built in filter.
